Event highlight
Onam 2025 was a cultural event hosted by my committee at the Brighton and Sussex Malayali Society in November 2025.
It combined traditional performances with individual talent showcases. See the photos.
I worked solo as both videographer and photographer. It was manageable but hectic: I was also in two performances and was a face of the hosting committee, so I was greeting guests and serving food between filming.
The event used large, powerful speakers, and the mic on the AC90 clipped heavily even on a low setting. I tried to plan for this during setup, but the performance audio still came out distorted. Photography went as smoothly as it could, and editing in Lightroom was straightforward.
Grading the AC90 footage was harder. I hadn't expected how little flexibility the camera's default Rec.709 profile gives. I chose a warm, slightly washed-out vintage look that suits its handheld, older image, then colour-matched the DJI's more digital footage to it. I'm pleased with how seamless that came out.
