About Me

I'm Mayoo, a hybrid video content producer, editor and content strategist based in South London.

My path into this industry wasn't typical. It started in professional E-Sports. Years before I even touched a camera, I was creating long and short form content under the alias 'relent', working with UK, Canadian and US esports organisations and later a professional editing agency. I was producing content for players from teams like Cloud9, FaZe and NaVi. That work generated over 4 million views, and taught me everything I knew about pace, retention and platform strategy. The esports content space was high volume and fast paced, resulting in my proficiency in using Adobe editing tools, editing under real deadline pressure across different formats.

At a certain point, I realised that I wanted to understand cameras, story and production from the ground up, not just editing footage that I've been given to work with. So I made the decision to leave Computer Science, and pursue a BA in Media Production at Brighton, and hence formalising a passion I'd already been living in practice. It meant picking up a camera for the first time, and learning the fundamentals properly - cinematography, sound, colour theory, and narrative structure, as well as post production techniques further to the editing instincts I already had.

Alongside my studies, I took on social media management for two of Brighton and Sussex universities' cultural societies. My work at university led to my final year project, a documentary where I discuss cars, identity and driving culture. This was the biggest end-end production undertaking within my uni work. Shot on the Panasonic LUMIX S1H and graded and edited in Resolve, the project pushed me deep into colour grading and compositing, and became the foundation for my automotive videography work. I also run some personal projects aside from professional and university related work.

Six years and a BA in Media Production later, I'm now someone who can shoot, edit, grade and think about where the content will live once its finished. No matter the format, I bring the same instinct that I've learned directly from my experience.
